Our Daily Bread today recalls the sinking of the Titanic 15 April 1912. Among its victims was "W. T. Stead, innovative English journalist who had previously addressed the danger of ships operating with an insufficient ratio of lifeboats to passengers... He sacrificed his own life by giving up his life vest and a place in the lifeboat so others could be rescued."
